From there the Croft has grown and more animals have been added from Shetland Cattle, Shetland Ducks, Ferrets and Embden Geese to name but a few.
My favourite animals at Croft 2a have to be the Shetland Cattle. Working with such large beasts sometimes has its challenges and dangers but most of the time our Cattle are very placid and manageable and they show really interesting characters.
I love being out on the Croft working with the animals but I also have a 'day job' which is a self employed Dental Technician (I make dentures and dental appliances).

My favourite animals at Croft 2a are the Hebridean Sheep and the smaller animals such as our rabbits Benji, Coco and Flopsy and our two very chilled out guinea pigs Peanut and Ginger. I enjoy working with the sheep because they are very hands on and are always willing to come and say hello. I particularly love lambing time and checking the sheep regularly for new lambs.
I'm a keen baker and also enjoy working with young children as I previously was an Early Years Teacher and loved the awe and wonder moments children have when learning or experiencing something new. I also have a 'day job' working as a Nursery Key Worker in schools.

I am seven years old and I love working with the animals on the Croft. My favourite animals on the Croft are the pigs and Benji the Bunny. I like to help feed the pigs and give them a scratch behind their ears and I massage their backs after I've helped to feed them.
When I grow up I would like to be a Vet so I can take care of all the animals.

Meet the Animals Sessions - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Things you need to know before your visit!
Please be aware that this is an outdoor event. The weather in the Hebrides is often wet and stormy, and if this is the case then we may have to cancel the booking for your own and our animals comfort. We shall either reschedule or refund.
Please wear suitable clothing and shoes. The ground is often damp and uneven, so sensible footwear is required. Wear warm clothing: layers are probably best, as our wind can often be very chilly.
Visits to Croft 2a are for all ages but please take into account that children must be supervised closely. As they will be up close to the animals, children need to be calm and respectful towards our animals. Our animals can be alarmed by loud sounds and sudden movements, so children need to be closely supervised.
No Smoking or Vaping is allowed on our Croft.
No Dogs allowed.
If you do have to cancel, please get in touch. We realise circumstances can change – if they do, please let us know and we can reschedule your booking and allow your space to be enjoyed by others.
Toilets, Baby Changing and Hand washing facilities are available for our visitors to use. (The Hand washing facilities MUST be used before you leave the Croft to go home.)
If you are pregnant we advise you to stay away from our in-lamb ewes and our newly born lambs for yours and your unborn baby's safety.
Buckets of Animals feed are available to buy for you to feed our animals, you MUST only feed them the food that you have purchased from us.
And finally - DON'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA AND HAVE FUN!!!!
